HBPA's Town Beautification Projecthinesburg business and professionals

One of the goals of the HBPA is to promote community service. Several years ago the organization initiated the "Town Beautification Project". Through this project the HBPA has been able to give a face-lift to several areas of the village. The project is funded in part through an annual 50/50 raffle held each May. Tasks completed through the Town Beautification project include seeding and raking town property, the annual installation and planting of flower boxes on the Public Safety Garage, filling the flower boxes on the Hinesburg Town Hall, and planting shrubs at a busy village intersection. These projects are normally completed in early May to coincide with Vermont's annual Green Up Day.

A Collaborative Effort Between the HBPA and Hinesburg 4-Hhinesburg business and professionals

When the HBPA was notified that the flower boxes on the front of the Hinesburg Town Hall had rotted beyond use, and could not be planted for the HBPA's annual Green Up Day project, members started making plans to replace the boxes. After learning that some of the Hinesburg 4-H'ers had recently completed a woodworking class, the HBPA began working on a collaboration project with the youths. The HBPA provided the materials, and 4-Her's Nicolas Blumen, Katrina Wilson and Kristin Blumen provided their recently learned woodworking talents to create new flower boxes for the front of the Town Hall. The 4-Her's built, painted and planted the boxes, which were installed for Green Up Day on May 3, 2003. The HBPA hopes that future collaborative efforts with the 4-Hers may benefit both organizations and the community.

Hinesburg Community Yard Sale Dayhinesburg business and professionals

The annual Hinesburg Yard Sale Day is sponsored by the HBPA. The event is always a resounding success, attracting numerous bargain hunters to Hinesburg. Through the cooperation of the Hinesburg Fire Department, the community sale site is usually located at the Hinesburg Fire Hall, where many vendors will sell their yard-sale wares. In addition to the vendors located at the Fire Hall, many sales are located throughout town, creating the ultimate yard sale experience!

As in past years, the HBPA produced and distributed a map directing yard sale shoppers to the various sales throughout town. This event continues to grow each year, with numerous residents taking advantage of the day to clean out attics and garages - the ultimate "spring cleaning"!
